Floaters & Flashes

Eye floaters are small, shadowy shapes that drift across your vision, often resembling dots, lines, or cobwebs. They're typically caused by age-related changes in the vitreous humor, the gel-like substance in your eye, where fibers clump together and cast shadows on the retina. Eye flashes are brief sensations of light, like lightning streaks, caused by the vitreous pulling on the retina. While both floaters and flashes are often harmless, a sudden increase in either, especially when accompanied by vision loss, could indicate a retinal tear or detachment, requiring immediate medical attention. It's crucial to consult an eye doctor for any new or concerning visual symptoms to determine the cause and receive appropriate treatment.
